First Post

Hi and welcome to my new blog!

I am a first timer here so who knows how long this will last. I plan on keeping you (who ever that may be) informed of my training for IMLP 2008.

I will start by telling you a little bit about myself.
I am a happily married man with a great wife and 4 terrific kids.
Two of my kids, Max and Ivy, just turned 4 on monday. The other two are17 months behind that. (you do the math) yes you read that correct there are two sets of twins.

This is my first, and definitely not my last, year of triathlon.
so far this year i have done 3 tri's and one du. i started the year with an Olympic distance and had a rude awakening in the water. lets just say open water swimming is nothing like a pool. the bike and the run went by fine after i got done throwing up from getting sea sick in the lake.

the second tri was a Half iron distance. the swim was a lot better(thanks to some open H2O practice) the bike was good til mile 50 when i got some killer cramps in my quads. the run was terrible thanks to cramps in my stomach. i guess the whole nutrition thing needs some work. but the finish time was respectable for a first timer. 5:39 (which included a 12 minute passing penalty!)

my third tri was an Olympic again. just this past weekend 9/23. lets just say i have learned from my mistakes. this one felt great! 2:16:55 17 minutes faster than the first one this year. needless to say i was super stoked. the only problem is i felt really fresh at the finish so i only wonder how much better i could have done. i will use the excuse that i have my first ever marathon this weekend 9/30 and i was holding a little back for safety.

well now that i have just talked someones ear off i will wait until next time to post some more stuff.

til then
keep on tri-in'
